How to do the maintenance work of the orbital grabber in winter?

Orbital grabbers are mostly deployed in open-air operation scenarios such as stockyards and ports. Harsh working conditions such as low temperatures, rain, snow, and freezing in winter cause far more wear and tear on various components of the equipment than in normal temperature seasons. Precise winter maintenance is a core measure to ensure stable operation of the equipment and extend the service life.

The fuel system is the primary focus of winter maintenance. Low temperature will cause the viscosity of diesel to increase, its fluidity to decrease, and even solidify. It is necessary to adapt the diesel model according to the low temperature in the working area: choose No. 10 diesel when the ambient temperature is above -5°C, and choose No. 20 diesel when the ambient temperature is between -15°C and -25°C. It is strictly prohibited to mix different brands of fuel or replace it with gasoline. At the same time, the accumulated water in the oil-water separator of the fuel system must be drained regularly, usually once a day after work, to prevent the accumulated water from freezing at low temperatures and blocking the fuel injection pipeline the fuel pipeline must also be checked weekly for aging and cracking, and the outside can be wrapped with insulation cotton to reduce heat loss and prevent fuel from solidifying in the pipeline.

Hydraulic systems are extremely sensitive to low temperatures. Excessive viscosity of low-temperature hydraulic oil can cause increased component wear, slow movement, and even hydraulic pump overload. Low-temperature anti-wear hydraulic oil needs to be replaced. The viscosity grade should be adapted to the local winter temperature. Before replacement, the old oil must be completely drained. After filtering system impurities, new oil must be added. The sealing of the hydraulic oil tank must also be checked simultaneously to prevent external water vapor from penetrating. Water vapor can easily precipitate from the hydraulic oil at low temperatures, causing component corrosion and pipeline blockage. Hydraulic pipelines also need to be insulated and protected, and exposed pipelines can be wrapped with thermal insulation sleeves to reduce oil temperature loss.

The core of the power system is engine maintenance. The antifreeze needs to be replaced with a model that meets low-temperature requirements. The freezing point must be more than 5°C lower than the local extreme low temperature. It is strictly forbidden to replace it with water or ordinary antifreeze. Before replacement, the scale and impurities in the cooling system need to be cleaned to prevent scale from clogging the pipelines at low temperatures and affecting heat dissipation. Preheat the ignition device before starting every day, and wait until the preheat indicator light goes out before starting the engine. After starting, the engine needs to be warmed up at idle speed for 3 to 5 minutes. After the water temperature and oil pressure are normal, gradually increase the load to avoid engine wear caused by hard starts at low temperatures or immediate heavy load operations.

Maintenance of walking and structural parts needs to be adapted to low temperature characteristics. The track area needs to be cleaned of snow, ice and debris every day to avoid jamming the running mechanism the track bolts are prone to loosening due to the shrinkage of low-temperature metals, so the torque needs to be checked and tightened every week. The grease needs to be low-temperature lithium-based grease, and oiled once every half month to ensure the lubrication effect of the track and wheels. Steel structures such as booms, grab buckets, frames, etc. need to be inspected daily for cracks and rust at the welds. The increased brittleness of steel at low temperatures can easily cause cracks. If small defects are found, weld them in time. The joint pins need to be filled with low-temperature grease every month to prevent sticking and corrosion.

Maintenance of electrical systems cannot be ignored. The low-temperature capacity of the battery will decrease by 30% to 50%. The density of the electrolyte needs to be checked. After full charging, the density should be controlled at around 1.28g/cm³. A battery insulation cover can be installed to avoid power loss at night. At the same time, check whether the wires and cables are damaged and the insulation layer is aging. Exposed lines must be wrapped with insulating sheaths to prevent leakage and short circuits caused by low temperature dryness or rain or snow.
